David Letterman's Netflix Series Secures Barack Obama as First Guest

The former president will sit down with Letterman in January

David Letterman has landed his first guest for his new talk show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barack Obama is set to appear in the inaugural episode of the Netflix series, which premieres on Friday, Jan. 12. This will be Obama's first appearance on a talk show since leaving office in January 2017.

Each episode on My Guest Needs No Introduction will feature Letterman engaging in deep conversation with a guest he finds fascinating. The interview will take place inside both a studio and out in the world, and feature in-the-field segments of Letterman on outings related to his guests.

Season 1 will consist of six hour-long episodes that will be launched monthly. Other guests slated to sit sown with the talk show host include George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey and Howard Stern. The new series marks Letterman's first regular series since leaving his post as host of CBS's The Late Show in May 2015.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman premieres Friday, Jan. 12 on Netflix.
