Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe Reveals Battle with Alcohol

In a new interview with GQ U.K., Daniel Radcliffe said he became "so reliant" on alcohol to get him through the later years of filming the Harry Potterfilms.

"I became so reliant on alcohol to enjoy stuff," Radcliffe told the magazine, according to a transcript from The Daily Mail. "There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me."

Radcliffe, who's currently starring on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, said he gave up drinking last August. "As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn't work for me," he said.

The 21-year-old actor said he's now able to enjoy spending more time with his girlfriend without "f------ up totally all the time." More importantly, he said that he's fortunate no paparazzi were able to snap a shot of him drinking. "I really got away with that because there were many instances when a paparazzi shot like that could have been taken."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2hits theaters July 15.
