Daniel Craig will star in an upcoming Showtime limited series based on Jonathan Franzen's novel Purity.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the James Bond actor will play Andreas, the charismatic German leader of an organization similar to WikiLeaks.

The 20-episode series tells the story of Pip, a young woman whose quest for answers about herself and family eventually leads her to an internship in South America at the Sunlight Project, which Andreas runs.

In addition to starring, Craig will also executive produce Purity alongside Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, David Hare, Todd Field and Franzen. Franzen, Field and Hare will write the series, with Field directing every episode.

Purity will air over two years on Showtime, with production beginning sometime next year.
