Reboots continue to be the order of the day, but this time The CW is reaching further back than Charmed. The network has officially ordered a pilot for a Roswell reboot fromThe Originalswriter, Carina Adly Mackenzie.

Based off the original book, Roswell High, as well as the 1999 WB series starring Shiri Appleby and Jason Behr, this new version of the story will incorporate an immigration twist.

This currently untitled reboot would center on the daughter of undocumented immigrants as she reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. Upon her arrival, she discovers a shocking secret about her high school crush turned police officer: He's actually an alien who's kept his interstellar abilities under wraps all of his life on earth.

Naturally, a romance begins to bud between the two, but a government conspiracy paired with the politics of fear and hatred threaten to destroy that deepening romance.

Holly Marie Combs Is NOT Happy About the Charmed Reboot

The CW has also ordered a reboot of Charmed as well as five other projects.

Playing Dead is slated as a dysfunctional family dramedy about a mortician and his son. The End of the World As We Know It is another sci-fi series, the premise of which involves hunting down the inmates of an alien prison ship that crashed to Earth. Spencer appears to be another Friday Night Lights in the making, depicting the wins, losses and struggles of a high school football team in South Central L.A. Skinny Dip is the tale of a woman scorned, who sets out to get revenge on her husband after he tries to kill her on their anniversary cruise. Finally, In the Dark, follows the adventures of a flawed and irreverent blind woman who attempts to solve her friend's murder with her seeing eye dog, Pretzels.

Not present on this list is a pilot order for The Originals spin-off centered on the teenage adventures of Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), though there's always a chance that a backdoor pilot has been built into the final season of The Originals.
