CW Orders Three New Reality Series, Including Music Competition from Queen Latifah

The CW is joining in on the reality music competition series circuit with a new unscripted show from Queen Latifah.

The Star Next Door will feature a nationwide search for undiscovered artists on the brink of stardom. Superstar mentors, including Gloria Estefan and John Rich, will venture out to where the talent is to prepare them for the chance to represent their home city live in front of America. Queen Latifah and The Biggest Loser's Dave Broome will executive-produce the series.

The network has also ordered two other reality series: Breaking Pointe will go behind the scenes of competitive ballet company Ballet West. Kate Shepherd and Bill Langworthy will executive-produce. The Catalina, executive-produced by Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey, will follow the young and wild staff at a South Beach, Fla. hotel.

As previously announced, the network has also ordered Oh Sit!,a high-stakes game of musical chairs in which 20 contestants race head-to-head through five physically demanding eliminations as they compete for a chair. Phil Gurin, Richard Joel and Deena Dill will executive-produce.

"One of my first goals here at The CW was to increase the number of hours of original programming, both throughout the season and during the summer," said CW President Mark Pedowitz. "With these four new reality series, we're launching our biggest summer schedule yet which will boost our circulation during the summer months and provide us with a promotional platform for our fall launch."
