The episode order for CSI: NY's eighth season has not been set, but it may be less than 22 episodes. The procedural was on the bubble after moving from Wednesdays to Fridays this season, causing its ratings to erode.

CBS cancels $#*!, Mad Love, The Defenders

Fellow spin-off Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, starring Forest Whitaker, debuted midseason — in CSI: NY's old time slot — after changing showrunners, but it failed to piggyback on the success of the mothership. CBS picks up Poppy Montgomery drama

On the flip side, CBS has thus far ordered six new shows:cop drama The 2-2 (formerly Rookies), the Poppy Montgomery-starring detective drama Unforgettable, Susannah Grant's A Gifted Man, the sitcom How to Be a Gentleman, J.J. Abrams' drama Person of Interestand the comedy Two Broke Girls.
