Creepshow's First Trailer Puts the Fun Back in Horror

The horror anthology series comes to Shudder in September

Shudder revealed the trailer for its upcoming horror anthology series Creepshowat San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, and it looks like it's putting the fun back in horror.

The six-episode anthology is based on the iconic 1982 film written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero and comes from Greg Nicotero, executive producer and special effects maestro for The Walking Dead. It will feature a dozen shorts from high-profile horror writers and directors like writer Joe Hill (Stephen King's son, who as a boy appeared in the original Creepshow), director Roxane Benjamin, and writer-director Rob Schrab, whose segment "Bad Wolf Down" is about Nazis versus werewolves.

The show's premiere episode, which drops on the horror-focused steaming service Shudder on Sept. 26, will feature an adaptation of the Stephen King story "Gray Matter," by The Commuter's Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi and directed by series showrunner Greg Nicotero, which stars the original Creepshow's Adrienne Barbeau, Better Call Saul's Giancarlo Esposito, and Saw's Tobin Bell; and "House of the Head," written by Bird Box's Josh Malerman and directed by John Harrison, who was the first assistant director for George Romero on the original Creepshow.

The cast for the season includes David Arquette, Big Boi, Kid Cudi, Tricia Helfer, and DJ Qualls.

Creepshow premieres Thursday, Sept. 26 on Shudder.
