Showtime Orders Comedy Pilot Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Showtime has given a pilot order for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a 30-minute "comedy with musical elements" from writers Aline Brosh McKenna and Rachel Bloom. Bloom stars in the project as Rebecca, a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan to move to West Covina, California looking for love.

Showtime has given a pilot order for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a 30-minute "comedy with musical elements" from writers Aline Brosh McKenna and Rachel Bloom.

"This pilot is an exciting change of pace for us," Showtime President David Nevins said in a statement. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is built on the inspired comedy and songwriting of Rachel Bloom — who we believe is ready to break out." 

The pilot will be directed and executive-produced by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man).

Brosh McKenna's writing credits include The Devil Wears Prada andWe Bought a Zoo, while Bloom has written for Robot Chicken and guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother.
