Conan's New Job Offer: IRA "Bad-Ass"

No matter how NBC's late-night disputes are resolved, Conan O'Brien can rest assured that he has another job waiting for him — on FX's Sons of Anarchy.

NBC exec calls Conan "chicken-hearted" and an "astounding failure"

"I know appearing in a dramatic role on cable television is probably the last thing you'd ever want to do, but I want you to know that you have an open invitation on my show, Sons of Anarchy," executive producer Kurt Sutter wrote in an entry on his blog titled "My Open Invitation to Conan O'Brien." "We have an IRA story line that will continue to play out this coming season and I could use a bad-ass O'Brien on my team. Guns, blood, fist fights — you could really work some sh-- out. Think about it."

Sutter, who also served as the executive producer on the cop drama The Shield, not only sympathized for O'Brien because of how he's "been screwed," but he also shared his sentiment on "the absurdity of NBC's approach to programming."

"They've not only degraded a great institution like The Tonight Show, they've managed, through greed and neglect, to nearly destroy an entire network," Sutter wrote.

Regardless of whether O'Brien accepts the offer, Sutter said he is confident he'll land on his feet, "wavy red hair intact."

"Just know that wherever you land, I'll be watching," Sutter wrote.
