Anyone who knows even a little bit about Community knows the phrase "six seasons and a movie" is no joking matter. The fans want that movie they were promised, but so far it hasn't ever gone beyond big talk and minimal progress.
Most recently, series creator Dan Harmon told The Wrap that he and Justin Lin continue to try to find a way to make the movie happen, it's just a matter of getting the money and the momentum necessary.
Danny Pudi, who played Abed Nadir in all six seasons, has heard similar rumblings which have kept him and the cast interested in the project.
"We have a little text chain, so we're always like, 'We're ready! We're ready!'" Pudi told TV Guide at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. "But who knows? I think everyone's excited for it, it's just a matter of it hopefully coming together, and I'll be there."
Various members of the cast have gone on to have wildly successful careers — most notably is Donald Glover, whose name you can't seem to avoid in Hollywood these days — which tends to make coordinating a reunion of any kind a hard feat to accomplish.
While we all wait for the movie to finally come together, we'll have to satisfy ourselves by theorizing what these characters have been and will be up to in the years between the series finale and the eventual movie. We'll be theorizing on our own, however, since Pudi says he's got zero interest in speculating about where Abed will be the next time we find him.
"I think the one thing I've always been consistent about is... I'll never predict where the show is going to go," Pudi says. "It was always more exciting to just discover as I read a script and be like, 'Okay, I guess this week I'm going to have to figure out a Batman impression. This week I'm going to have to watch My Dinner with Andre a thousand times. That's kind of the exciting part of the show — the spontaneity. So I'll leave that to Dan to come up with something really cool."
