Comedian John Pinette Dies at 50

Comedian John Pinette, who hosted All You Can Eat and had a memorable guest-starring role as the victim of a carjacking on Seinfeld, died Saturday at a hotel in Pittsburgh, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He was 50.

Comedian John Pinette, who hosted All You Can Eatand had a memorable guest-starring role as the victim of a carjacking on Seinfeld, died Saturday at a hotel in Pittsburgh, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He was 50.

Pinette's personal doctor reported that the cause of death was liver and heart disease. The actor had also checked into rehab last August for addiction to prescription painkillers.

Born in Boston, Pinette initially pursued a career in accounting but later decided to do comedy full-time. He was mostly known for his stand-up routines, but also had small roles in films like Duets, Junior and The Punisher.

He guest-starred on the series finale of Seinfeld as the victim of a carjacking that's witnessed by Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer. Most recently, he hosted the show All You Can Eat on H2.

In 1999, Pinette was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year at the American Comedy Awards.
