Coldplay will headline the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in February, the Wall Street Journal reports .
The news, expected to be officially announced tonight during Thursday night football, comes the day before the Brit band releases its new album "A Head Full of Dreams."
Coldplay is one of several acts expected to be announced for the Super Bowl's 50th anniversary halftime celebration. Planning is still underway, but organizers are keen to have multiple artists that span several eras commemorate the Super Bowl's 50th anniversary.Bruno Mars is also slated to perform, and Beyonce is reportedly in talks to make a guest appearance too. She is a guest on Coldplay's new album.
Super Bowl 50 will air on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 6/5c on CBS.
