Danes would play Carrie Anderson, a smart, driven CIA case officer who handles threats to homeland security from the Middle East. She gets a tip that Brody has turned and is leading a strike against the United States. Homeland would follow her efforts to get to the truth.

The pilot comes from 24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, along with Gideon Raff, who created the original show.

The role would be Danes' first regular series role since her Golden Globe-winning performance on My So-Called Lifein 1994.
