I have no idea where you are in this wide world, but here in the Midwest, this winter has been the coldest I've experienced in years. Getting out of my warm, cozy bed this morning? Major regret. So tonight, I'm making up for it by staying in, wrapping myself in blankets, and diving into a wine-and-movie marathon. I'll be pairing my favorite wines with the Christmas classics I rewatch every single year.

Christmas movies and wine pairings
Retailers BelowI'm no wine expert by any means, but I am a wine lover — and that's what matters. And, while in the winter I'm typically a red guy, you can catch me pouring a few glasses of white or dare I say rosé any time I want to spice my life up a little. Wine needn't be that serious.
When it comes to pairing wine with Christmas movies, let me tell you one thing — I know how to set the vibe. Think perfectly curated sips that match the mood of every scene, turning a simple movie night into a full-blown holiday experience. Plus, after I paired horror movies with spooky-centric wines this past Halloween, I feel like I'm practically an expert at this.
Now, if you're looking for the ultimate wine and Christmas movie pairing this season, you've come to the right guy. Let's pair some of the best Christmas movies with the most delicious wines you can sip this holiday.

Red One & Hahn Chardonnay
Amazon/Total WineAlright, I've yet to see Red One but I'm desperate to. Now that it's streaming on Prime Video, it's time to get after it. But, surprise! I'm pairing Red One with a white one — Hahn Chardonnay. This easy-to-drink white has a bright and citrus-like flavor while keeping that buttery and somewhat oaky taste you get with a classic California chard. It feels like a newer take on chardonnay which excites me, especially when pairing with a newer movie.
Hahn Chardonnay retails at around $15/bottle online or at your local liquor store. You can either purchase Red One on Blu-ray (note: it will arrive after Christmas) or watch with your Prime Video subscription. Prime Video costs $9/month or $15/month if you decide to go for the whole Amazon Prime subscription, which features discounts on thousands of products throughout the site.

Elf & Avaline Lambrusco
Amazon/AvalineNow, if Buddy the Elf were to drink wine, he'd be drinking Lambrusco. I mean, Buddy mixes spaghetti with candy and maple syrup. That's Lambrusco for you. This fizzy, plummy bottle from Avaline takes the classic dry-yet-fruity wine to a new level with zero grams of sugar per serving. Flavor-wise, it's definitely a little strange for you casual wine drinkers. It's sweet yet dry simultaneously, which confuses my palate personally, but still feels like the perfect pairing for one of the best Christmas movies of all time.
You can purchase Avaline Lambrusco directly from Avaline for just $30. Additionally, Elf is available on Blu-ray for purchase on Amazon (this may arrives after Christmas as well, depending on your location) and for streaming on services like Hulu, Disney+, Max, and Philo.

Home Alone and William Hill California Cabernet Sauvignon
Amazon/Total WineIf there's one thing I love, it's a budget-friendly red that tastes way pricier — like William Hill California Cabernet Sauvignon. At an entirely reasonable price (looking like $13-$15 depending on where you buy it), it's rich, smooth, and perfect for a cozy night in with a classic movie like Home Alone. With bold blackberry notes and a touch of vanilla, it feels festive without going overboard. Pair it with popcorn and Kevin McCallister's antics, and you've got the ultimate holiday setup.
Find William Hill Cabernet at most wine shops or online for around $13. Home Alone is streaming on Disney+ or available to buy on DVD or Blu-ray on Amazon. Just don't spill your wine when Kevin screams — it's too good for that.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas & Franciscan Sauvignon Blanc
Amazon/Buy Wines OnlineI can't explain it, but How the Grinch Stole Christmas just feels like a white wine kind of movie. Maybe it's because the Grinch radiates chaos, and let's be real — white wine has a way of inspiring some truly questionable decisions. Enter Franciscan Sauvignon Blanc, a crisp, citrusy bottle that's just the right amount of festive without being fussy. At around $15, it's an approachable pick for a cozy night in (and hopefully fewer chaotic choices).
With bright notes of grapefruit and a refreshing finish, this wine is perfect for sipping while watching the Grinch go from holiday hater to Whoville's most spirited party guest. It's light, fun, and just chaotic enough to match the Grinch's energy — minus the stealing-Christmas part. You can snag this bottle at around $15, buy the film on Amazon, or stream it on Sling TV.

The Polar Express & Nomadica Red
Nomadica/AmazonI know what you're thinking, but boxed wine can be good wine. Nomadica Red is the perfect box to split between a couple of buddies for a Christmas movie night, especially if you're tuning into the nostalgic tale that is The Polar Express.
This over-the-top delicious red is light and bright, with deep berry notes that make it dangerously drinkable. Made from 93% Teroldego and 7% Malbec, it's a sophisticated blend packaged in a format that ensures you'll never run out mid-movie. Trust me, once you hop aboard this wine train, there's no turning back.
You can buy the wine directly from Nomadica for $50. The DVD is available on Amazon and you can stream the movie on Hulu, Disney+, Max, and Philo. Oh, and if you're feeling extra fancy with your boxed wine, throw it in a Boxxle — the coolest way to store your boxed wine these days.
