Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to a hit-and-run charge on Tuesday, TMZ.com reports.

The charge stems from a May 21 accident, in which Brown refused to give the driver he rear-ended his license number and left the scene without providing proof of insurance. Brown was then charged with hit-and-run and driving without a license, though the latter charge was dismissed.

Brown is currently on probation from his assault on Rihanna in 2009, for which he served no jail time. Since Brown wasn't arrested following the accident, he must go to a police station by August 15 to be booked for the crime.

Brown, who could face up to six months in prison if convicted, is expected in court on August 15. Brown's probation was revoked because of the hit-and-run charge, but he is expected back in court for a separate hearing in August to determine whether the new charge violates his probation.
