Chris Brown Charged with Two Felonies, Arraignment Postponed

Chris Brown was charged with two felonies after the R&B singer was accused of attacking Rihanna in the hours leading up to the Grammy Awards last month. On Thursday, he made his first appearance in court since his arrest, but the arraignment was postponed until April 6 as his attorney sought more time to review the case.

Dressed in a grey suit and white shirt, Brown, 19, said little throughout the proceedings. He's charged with assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats and remains free on $50,000 bail.

A detective's affidavit with ugly details from the case names the woman involved as "Robyn F." Rihanna's real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

A detective's sworn statement said the couple got into a fight early Feb. 8 after Rihanna found a text message on Brown's phone from another woman, according to the affidavit. Brown pulled over and tried to push Rihanna out, but was unable to because she was wearing her seatbelt. Brown then pushed Rihanna's head against the window, punched her repeatedly, bit her on the ear and threatened to kill her, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit also states that Brown's blows caused Rihanna's mouth to fill with blood and that Brown also attempted to choke Rihanna after she took away his keys.
Brown turned himself in to police, skipping his performance at the Grammys. Rihanna was also a no-show for the ceremony.
Brown released a statement a week later saying he was "sorry and saddened" about the incident. Rihanna refuses to comment on Brown's arrest, but thanked her fans for their support in a statement.
If convicted, Brown could face four years and eight months in state prison, according to a district attorney's spokesperson.
