Chicago P.D.showrunner Matt Olmstead wasn't exaggerating when he told TVGuide.com about an unexpected death that would send shockwaves through the team. In the final moments of Wednesday's season finale, Voight (Jason Beghe) met Internal Affairs Sgt. Edwin Stillwell (Ian Bohen) at the scene of a homicide, and the victim was one of Voight's own: the Intelligence Unit's tech and surveillance expert, Sheldon Jin (Archie Kao).

It seemed that Jin's days were numbered from a relatively early point in the episode, when Voight discovered it was Jin who was leaking some of his information and files to Stillwell. Voight confronted Jin about the secret meeting he saw, and considering Voight's history with crossing the line on the job, that probably should have been all the intimidation Jin needed to back off once and for all. However, it had been established that Stillwell was helping Jin with his dad, so maybe it wasn't so easy to cut off Voight's Internal Affairs handler.

TV's most heartbreaking deaths

In the last few minutes of the episode, Voight met Stillwell in the dead of night and handed him a large sum of untraceable bills. Then Jin was seen frantically running out of his office and mailing some sort of flash drive, all while placing a call to his dad to tell him to get out of Chicago fast. So did Voight and Stillwell have anything to do with Jin's death? Their knowing glance, not to mention the fake formality they used with each other in front of the other police officers on the scene, suggest that something is a bit fishy. But what was on that flash drive? And who did Jin mail it to? These burning questions, as well as the emotional impact that Jin's death will have on the team, should make for an interesting ongoing storyline at the beginning of Season 2.

Elsewhere, the finale brought some good news -- aow aow, Burgess and Ruzek! -- and some bad news, as Antonio (Jon Seda) came home to an empty house and a letter from his wife.

So what did you think of the season finale? Were you surprised by who died? Who do you think he was running from? Leave your comments and best theories in the comments!
