In her new book, Dancing Lessons, Burke discusses the details of her molestations, which began when she was 5. Burke says her abuser was a retired mailman who used to pick her up from school in her Bay Area community and do random jobs around her house.
The 26-year-old dancer says she was initially confused over the abuse. "I felt guilty for wanting his love and affection," Burke says.
She went on to testify again him, calling it "the hardest thing I've ever done ... I saw his face and lawyers were asking me these questions and I was like, 'What am I doing? Did he even do anything wrong?'"
After years of therapy and her attacker's imprisonment, Burke now says: "If I can help just one person, for me, that's all that matters."
