The sci-fi and sitcom veteran has taken a quantum leap forward as an actor with his sensitive turn as lifelong bachelor Terry on TNT's Peabody-winning dramedy.  (Emmy voters, take note.) The terrific second-season finale found Terry happily settling into a potential long-term relationship with fellow ex-thespian Erin (the luminous Melinda McGraw) and leaving his job working for pal Owen (the equally Emmy-worthy Andre Braugher) as a car salesman after discovering what he really wants to do is direct.

Of course, we'll never find out if Terry and Erin live happily ever after unless TNT picks up Men for Season 3. To do otherwise would be, to paraphrase the title of one of Bakula's movies (and Men's USA Network time-slot competitor), unnecessary roughness.

Do you think Scott Bakula has ever been better than on Men of a Certain Age?
