The steadily improving actor, who's still best known for his groundbreaking role as gay teen Jack McPhee on Dawson's Creek, has explored his darker side in recent years, most memorably playing Melina Kanakaredes' stalker on CSI: NY.  But nothing prepared us for his bone-chilling work as Navy Lt. Jonas Cobb, aka the Port-to-Port Killer, on CBS' top-rated crime drama. A trained assassin, Cobb set out to get revenge on the government handlers who'd turned him into a killing machine. After murdering Gibbs' mentor Mike Franks (Muse Watson) and threatening E.J. (Sarah Jane Morris) — who was revealed to be the SecNav's niece! — as well as Ziva (Cote de Pablo) and Jimmy (Brian Dietzen), Cobb was gunned down by NCIS and blown through a window. The look on his face as Cobb's corpse lay sprawled atop a parked car was scarier than any of the horror films in Smith's canon (Final Destination, My Bloody Valentine, etc.).It was a good day for Dawson's Creek alums: ABC picked up the promising sitcom Apartment 23, in which James Van Der Beek slyly spoofs himself. And NCIS' lovable Pauley Perrette, who recurred on Creek as Dawson's shrink in 2001, threw a party to celebrate the opening of her NYC eatery Donna Bell's Bake Shop (named after her mom and featuring delicious Southern desserts). I was lucky enough to sample some of her cupcakes, and let me just say, I don't wanna wait... to go back there again. What did you think of NCIS' finale?
