What more could you want from Monday's episode of Late Show? Republican contender Mitt Romney delivered the " Top 10 Things Mitt Romney Would Like to Say to the American People," including "Isn't it time for a President who looks like a 1970's game-show host?" "Newt Gingrich? Really?" and "It's a hairpiece." Still, Letterman got the best line, teasing the preppy presidential wannabe, "How'd you do on the back nine?"
Then Tom Cruise, on his best behavior (read: no couch jumping), promoted Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. What was his biggest safety concern climbing up the side of the world's tallest building in Dubai? Deadpanned Cruise, "Falling." Letterman also paid a poignant tribute to his makeup artist for the past 20 years, Michelle O'Callaghan, who passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer. And Anthony Hamilton closed the show with his soulful new single. Laughs, tears, tunes — Ed Sullivan would've been proud.
