SPOILER ALERT: Stop reading now if you haven't seen this week's episode!
Just when it looked like estranged Atlantic City gangsters Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) and Jimmy Darmody (an Emmy-worthy Michael Pitt) were getting the old band back together, the Nuckster ruthlessly gunned down his prodigal ex-protégé. The act shockingly showed the depths of Nuck's soullessness, especially after he swore he would repent to his conscience-stricken new bride, Margaret (Kelly Macdonald).
But Mrs. Schroeder — make that Thompson — had a surprise of her own up her starchy sleeve. She signed over the deed to the land that Nucky and his cronies were counting on for an ill-gotten windfall once the highway went through to her local Catholic Church. (No wonder the priest accompanied her for "moral support" when she met with federal prosecutor Esther Randolph.) That sets up a potentially explosive conflict for Season 3 of HBO's top-caliber drama: If Nucky would whack his surrogate son for crossing him, what will he do to his wife?
