Charmed Reboot Ordered to Pilot at The CW

But it's still not a revival

The long-awaited Charmed reboot has finally gotten a pilot order at The CW. But it's not like the show we thought it was going to be.

Originally, this reboot of the WB's witchy drama starring Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan (and Shannen Doherty for a while there) as three sisters who find out they're witches was to be set in the 1970s. The new pilot has scrapped the 1970s setting, trading it in for a more contemporary tale. It is based on a story by Jennie Urman, creator of Jane the Virgin, who will executive produce with Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin.

Ditching the 1970s setting is probably for the best, but Charmed fans have been very vocal about wanting a revival with the original cast instead of a reboot. Time will tell if this pilot will make it to series on The CW.

Dead Inside has also received a pilot order. This supernatural cop drama would follow an underachieving beat cop who, after surviving an explosion that killed her hotshot detective big brother, starts seeing his ghost. Together, they work together to help crime victims both living and dead, and figure out the unfinished business keeping his spirit on Earth.
