CBS has a last-minute addition to its new season line-up, ordering 13 episodes of the multi-cam comedy Superior Donuts.
Based on a play by Tracy Letts, Superior Donuts stars Judd Hirsch as the gruff owner of a donut shop and Jermaine Fowler as his new employee. The sitcom, which takes place in a gentrifying Chicago neighborhood, will also star Katey Sagal, David Koechner, Maz Jobrani, Anna Baryshnikov, Darien Sills-Evans and Rell Battle.
"This show has been very high on our radar since we first put it into development last winter," CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller said in a statement. "Jermaine Fowler is a rising young star, Judd Hirsch is a comedy legend and the entire cast is full of great comedic talent. We're very excited to expand our comedy line-up with Superior Donuts."
Hirsch is a two-time Emmy winner, two-time Tony winner and Oscar nominee whose starred in Taxi, Numbers and the canceled ABC drama Forever.
Folwer is a comedian and actor, best known for his work on CollegeHumor and 2015 Showtime special Jermaine Fowler: Give 'Em Hell Kid.
