Late Show with Stephen Colbert Lands Post-Super Bowl Spot

CBS is banking big on late night

Liz Raftery

CBS is putting its late-night shows in the Super Bowl spotlight.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air a special live episode immediately following the 2016 Super Bowl, CBS announced Wednesday. This will mark the first time a late-night series has landed the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot.

Late local news will air after The Late Show, followed by a Super Bowl Sunday edition of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Is your favorite show at risk of getting canceled?

"It's been a very big year in late night at CBS," CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller said in a statement. "We're extremely proud of our two new late night franchises, and we're thrilled to give Stephen and James this big Super Bowl Sunday showcase."

Will you stick around to watch the late night shows after the Super Bowl?
