CBS first tried to launch a Hawaii update last year with Criminal Mindsexecutive producer Ed Bernero. The original series, which starred Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, the leader of the fictional Hawaiian State Police Department, was best known for its opening theme song and the catchphrase, "Book 'em, Danno."
