Castle Rock is based on several elements and characters from the Stephen King book and screen universe; King and J.J. Abrams executive-produce. The series debuted in the summer of 2018 and, after strong ratings and critical praise, was quickly renewed for a second season, with plans for it to become an anthology-style show.
