To quote adult Carrie Bradshaw, "dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style."
And that is just what The CW is counting on with their planned adaptation of Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City prequel novel, The Carrie Diaries. Centered on teen Bradshaw's life as a fashion-forward high-school student in the '80s surrounded by some equally fab friends, the in-production pilot from Gossip Girl wonder twins Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage stars AnnaSophia Robb (Soul Surfer), who has some pretty big Manolos to fill as a version of Carrie who's not even legal to sip Cosmos.
It's risky, no doubt (since we all know Carrie's real love is Mr. Big, not just some Big Man on Campus), but the network did OK with its teen Clark Kent, so let's just think of this is as Smallville for fashionistas. And as you can see in this first image, Robb can totally pull off La Bradshaw's wild hair and flashy fashions. Fingers crossed the pilot is picked to go to series, because honestly, we kind of need to see exactly how Carrie survived the dating game before she met up with Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha.
What do you think of a SATC prequel? Do we need a teen Bradshaw?
