Camryn Manheim Is Heading to Major Crimes

Will she replace Taylor?

Liz Raftery

Camryn Manheim is joining the cast of Major Crimes, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Manheim will come on board in a recurring role as the deputy chief of operations at the LAPD. She'll also be one of the top contenders for the assistant chief position, after Russell Taylor (Robert Gossett) was killed on Monday's episode "White Lies, Part 1."

Executive producer James Duff told TVGuide.com that, in addition to Manheim's character, Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell), Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney) and another new character will be weighed as possible replacements for Taylor, and the ensuing competition will create "tension and rivalry" among their colleagues. Casting for the second new character has not been announced.

Manheim's character will be introduced in Episode 14, the first episode after the three-part summer finale, according to TVLine, which first reported the news.

Manheim's previous TV credits include The Practice, for which she won an Emmy, Person of Interest, and Extant.
