Police were called to a hotel room in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. by a woman who identified herself as his girlfriend and said Brendon had smashed her phone, taken her keys, and tried to choke her to keep her from leaving.
Investigations lieutenant Bob Gillson told the magazine that alcohol had been involved. According to the local CBS News affiliate, the actor — who played Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer — was charged Thursday morning with felony third-degree robbery, criminal mischief, and obstruction of breathing.
This is the fourth time Brendon has been arrested this year. In February, he divorced his wife after five months of marriage. He did a stint in rehab in June for alcoholism, depression, and substance abuse issues. In August, he stormed out of a scheduled Dr. Phil interview because he felt the questions were too invasive.
"My illnesses and addictions are a daily struggle for me," he wrote in a Facebook post at the time. I'm the first to admit I've messed up, a lot, and I've hurt people I care about and who care about me. ... I'm sure I'll have ups and downs to come, but I'm hopeful for a bright future."
