The Hollywood pyrotechnics industry just got the best Christmas gift ever.
Big-screen heavyweights Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay are teaming with HBO to executive produce drama pilot Cocaine Cowboys, to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, inspired by Billy Corben's 2006 documentary, chronicles the early days of cocaine trafficking in Miami. Meredith Steim, creator of Bruckheimer-produced CBS drama Cold Case will write the script and also executive produce.
Warned Bros. TV, where Jerry Bruckheimer TV is based, is behind the project, and will also run physical production of the series, should it be greenlighted. This project marks Bruckheimer's first foray into a pay-cable series after he recently landed his first basic-cable pilot with TNT's The Line.
Some of Bruckheimer's other TV credits include the CSI franchise, Without a Trace, and Eleventh Hour. Bay is best known for directing blockbuster features such as Bad Boys, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Transformers.
