Saturday Night Live star Brooks Wheelan took to Twitter on Monday to say that he's been let go as a cast member of the NBC sketch show.
"Had a blast and loved every second of it," Wheelen tweeted. "I'm totally honored to be able to make this next joke... FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!"
The best SNL cast members of all time
Wheelan, a 27-year-old stand-up comic from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was one of six new cast members added to the show's 39th season during a major cast overhaul following the departures of Fred Armisen, Seth Meyers, Jason Sudeikis, and Bill Hader. The fate of the other five new cast members—Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, John Milhiser, Noël Wells, and Mike O'Brien—has not yet been determined.
NBC declined to comment on the news.
