Britney Spears Splits from Boyfriend David Lucado

Britney Spears and her boyfriend David Lucado have broken up. The singer announced her new relationship status Thursday, tweeting: "Ahhhh the single life!"

According to TMZ, Spears ended things with Lucado after her father, Jamie Spears, purchased a video of Lucado dancing with and kissing another woman and showed it to her. A rep for her conservator said Jamie took the action to protect Spears from the embarrassment of the video of Lucado going public.

Spears and Lucado were first linked in February 2013, only two months after she ended her engagement to former agent Jason Trawick. By November, she was telling Ellen DeGeneres she was "in love."

Despite the split, Spears seems to be holding up just fine, posting a goofy Instagram video for her fans. "Okay, if you ever have a really, really shitty day find someone with shoes with hearts on them," Spears says, turning the camera to see her friend's heart sneakers. "Made my day!"
