While The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2easily won the box office this weekend, the final installment of the Jennifer Lawrence franchise still opened to a series low.
According to Box Office Mojo, Mockingjay - Part 2 grossed $101 million domestically, $20 million below Mockingjay - Part 1's opening weekend gross. However, the YA drama easily still took the No. 1 spot away from Spectre, which slipped to $14.6 million.
The Peanuts Movie finished off the top three, earning $12.8 million. The Seth Rogen holiday comedy The Night Before debuted at No. 4 with $10.1 million, followed by the opening weekend of The Secret in their Eyes, which earned $6.63 million.
Love the Coopers slipped to No. 6 with $3.93 million and The Martian slipped to No. 7 with $3.7 million. Spotlight ($3.6 million), The 33 ($2.2 million) and Bridge of Spies ($1.9 million) rounded out the top 10.
