Box Office: The Boss Beats Batman v Superman

Melissa McCarthy's The Boss ruled the box office this weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

The comedy's opening weekend earned $23.5 million, beating out reigning champ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The critically panned DC film experienced a massive drop in its third weekend, falling 54 percent to earn only $23.4 million.

Zootopiacontinued to be a strong performer, coming in third with $14.4 million. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 followed with $6.4 million, beating out the premiere weekend of the first-person action flick Hardcore Henry($5.1 million).

Jennifer Garner's religious drama Miracles from Heaven took the sixth spot with $4.8 million. Rounding out the top 10 were God's Not Dead 2 ($4.3 million), The Divergent Series: Allegiant ($3.6 million), 10 Cloverfield Lane ($3 million) and Eye in the Sky ($2.8 million).
