Box Office: Ride Along Snatches the Top Spot, Sets January Record

Ride Along soared to the top of the box office over the weekend and surpassed Cloverfield as the highest January debut for a movie, Box Office Mojo reports. The comedy starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart collected a $41.2 million haul.

Coming in at No. 2 was Lone Survivor with $23.2 million.

The Nut Job had a surprisingly strong opening, landing in third place with $20.5 million, while Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit took in a disappointing $17.2 million at No. 4.

Disney's Frozen is still holding strong in its ninth week in theaters, at No. 5 with $11.9 million.

Oscar frontrunner American Hustle finished in sixth place with $10.6 million, while Devil's Duebombed in its debut, taking in only $8.5 million and coming in at No. 7.

Rounding out the Top 10 were August: Osage County (No. 8, $7.6 million), The Wolf of Wall Street (No. 9, $7.5 million) and Saving Mr. Banks (No. 10, $4.1 million).
