Last week's top film, Brad Pitt's Fury, dropped to third place with $13 million, followed by Gone Girl with $11.1 million and The Book of Life with $9.8 million.
After expanding to a nationwide release, the Bill Murray - Melissa McCarthy dramedy St. Vincent jumped from No. 15 to No. 6 with $8 million.
In seventh place was Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day with $7 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were The Best of Me (No. 8, $4.7 million), The Judge (No. 9, $4.34 million) and Dracula Untold (No. 10, $4.3 million).
