Box Office: One Direction Overtakes The Butler

One Direction sang and danced their way to the top spot at the box office over the three-day holiday weekend, unseating The Butler, which had occupied the No. 1 slot for the past two weeks.

The boy band's concert film This Is Us raked in $15.8 million, narrowly topping The Butler, which earned $14.9 million in its third week, Box Office Mojo reports. Coming in third was We're the Millers with $12.7 million.

The Mexican indie dramedy Instructions Not Included was a surprise hit, opening in fourth place with $7.8 million, while Planes held steady at No. 5 with $7.7 million.

Elysium jumped a spot from seventh place to sixth in its fourth week, with $6.4 million, and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones fell from third place to seventh in its second week with $5.45 million.

Landing at No. 8 was The World's End with $4.76 million.

Getaway, starring Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez, opened at No. 9 with $4.49 million. Closing out the Top 10 was Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters with $4.4 million.
