Box Office: Zac Efron and Seth Rogen’s House Party Beats Spider-Man 2

Move over, Spider-Man, there's a new guy in town and he looks a lot like a shirtless Zac Efron.   The actor's new movie Neighbors — which co-stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as a married couple living next to Efron's fraternity — was the top movie at the box office this Mother's Day weekend...

Move over, Spider-Man, there's a new guy in town and he looks a lot like a shirtless Zac Efron.  

The actor's new movie Neighbors — which co-stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as a married couple living next to Efron's fraternity — was the top movie at the box office this Mother's Day weekend, bringing in $51.1 million, according to Box Office Mojo. That's one the biggest debuts ever for an R-rated comedy behind Seth MacFarlane's Ted ($54.4 million) and Sex and the City ($57 million).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 fell to second place this week earning only $37.2 million, which brings its domestic total to $147.9 million. It continues to do very well overseas, however, where it earned $69.5 million.  Globally, the superhero sequel has earned $200.5 million.

Coming in at No. 3 was Cameron Diaz's The Other Woman, earning $9.25 million to bring its total gross to $61.7 million. At No. 4 was the faith-based movie Heaven is for Real ($7 million), which has raked in $75.2 million since its premiere. Captain America: The Winter Soldier took fifth place with $5.6 million and s brought its cumulative total to $245 million since its premiere on April 4.

After five weeks in theaters, Rio 2 came in at No. 6 with 5.1 million. Mom's Night Out and Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, which both made their debuts this weekend, earned $4.2 and $3.7 million, respectively to take the seventh and eighth spots. 

Rounding out the top 10 were Divergent ($1.7 million), which fell two spots to No. 9 and Paul Walker's Brick Mansions (No. 10, $1.4 million).
