Box Office: Did Mad Max Top Pitch Perfect 2?

Mad Max: Fury Road was no match for Pitch Perfect 2 at the box office this weekend.
The a cappella comedy sequel, starring Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick, easily took first place with $70.3 million in its opening weekend. Mad Max, meanwhile, debuted at No. 2 with a respectable $44.4 million, Box Office Mojo reports.

The two newbies displaced Avengers: Age of Ultron, which slipped from the top spot down to third place with $38.8 million in its third week in theaters. Hot Pursuit also fell two spots to No. 4 with $5.7 million.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 held steady at No. 5 with $3.6 million, matching Furious 7's earnings in its seventh week in theaters.
In seventh place was The Age of Adaline with $3.2 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Home (No. 8, $2.7 million), Ex Machina (No. 9, $2.1 million), and Far From the Madding Crowd (No. 10, $1.3 million).
