Box Office: Expendables 2 Stays on Top, Obama Documentary Rises

The former Governor of California stayed on top of a slow weekend the box office, but it was a new documentary about President Barack Obama that showed real strength.

2016: Obama's America expanded to more than 900 theaters and rose more than 400 percent to gross an estimated $6.2 million and come in at No. 8, according to Box Office Mojo. The rise for the anti-Obama documentary comes days before the Republican National Convention.

The Expendables 2 knocks The Bourne Legacy from the top spot at the box office

The Expendables 2 took in another $13.5 million to rank No. 1 for the week. The Bourne Legacy followed in second place with $9.3 million.

ParaNorman scared up another $8.5 million to hold onto third place. At No. 4, The Campaign drew $7.4 million. The Dark Knight Rises edged out The Odd Life of Timothy Green for fifth place, earning $7.15 million to Green's $7.12 million.

New release Premium Rush, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt bested the week's other new releases, snagging $6.3 million to rank seventh.

Rounding out the top 10: Hope Springs (No. 9, $6 million) and Hit & Run (No. 10, $4.6 million).
