Bill Hader is leaving Saturday Night Live, he told The New York Times.
"It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point," Hader said. "It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it's just time to go.'"
Since Hader joined the cast in 2005, he's become beloved for his celebrity impressions, portrayals of game show hosts and of course, the flamboyant "Weekend Update" correspondent Stefon.

Hader isn't the only cast member leaving SNL
. Head writer and "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers
will leave next year to take over Late Night
when Jimmy Fallon
moves to The Tonight Show
next spring. The futures of SNL
veterans Fred Armisen
and Jason Sudeikis
are also unknown, even to showrunner Lorne Michaels
. "I've said what I wanted to say to both. You never keep anybody there who doesn't want to be there, and there is a right time to leave, but it's more about where they are in their lives," Michaels said.Hader's finale episode will be Saturday's season finale, hosted by Ben Affleck
, though special plans for his departure haven't been set yet. "My joke was, we'll start singing 'Ruby Tuesday' and just say bye to Kristen again," Hader said, referencing Kristen Wiig
's emotional sendoff last year. "I can just do a little wave at goodnights, and that signifies it."Saturday Night Live
's finale airs Saturday at 11:30/10:30c on NBC.Will you miss Hader? Watch some of his best SNL
