Nicole Kidman Says a Third Season of Big Little Lies Is Unlikely

But not out of the question!

Big Little Lies wasn't even supposed to get a second season, so don't get your hopes up for a third. Nicole Kidman says that a third season of the Emmy-dominating hit HBO drama would be tough to schedule.

"I think it would be hard to get the whole group together," Kidman tells Variety. "But we would love to do it."

"The whole group" is a cast of movie stars including herself, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley and Meryl Freakin' Streep, who Kidman reveals signed on for Season 2 without even seeing a script. The fact that Big Little Lies happened once is kind of remarkable, and the fact that it's getting a sequel with America's greatest living actor is just a bonus.

Everything We Know About Big Little Lies Season 2

Never say never, though. Kidman does say "we would love to do it." If Marvel can wrangle some of the biggest stars on the planet into four Avengers movies long past the point that some of them want to be there (cough Chris Evans cough), HBO might be able to swing a third installment of a different kind of superhero team-up somewhere down the line. Like I said, Big Little Lies was only supposed to be a limited series, and like Kevin Garnett said, "anything is possible."

Big Little Lies Season 2 is coming in 2019.
