That Beverly Hills 90210 Revival Isn't Even a Revival At All

The OG cast will reunite for a mockumentary series loosely based on their lives

Contrary to previous reports, the OG cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 isn't working on a revival at all. The gang, along with writers Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, is actually shopping around an hour-long mockumentary-style dramedy loosely based on their lives, according to TV Line.

With networks throwing out reboots left and right, including the CW's rehash of 90201 in 2008, this potential series actually sounds refreshing. Should the project move forward, stars Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley and Gabrielle Carteris would play fictionalized versions of themselves and follow their attempts to revive the '90s classic. Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry, however, won't be involved.

If the premise sounds familiar, that probably means you've seen all ten episodes of VH1's short-lived gemSo NoTORIous starring Spelling in 2006. The delightful series, which also featured a baby-faced Zachary Quinto as her flamboyant bestie Sasan, poked fun at Spelling's complicated relationship with her parents Aaron and Candy Spelling and followed her attempts to make it on her own in Hollywood.

No word yet on where the series will land, if anywhere at all, but we've got our fingers crossed.

You can stream Beverly Hills, 90210 in its entirety right now on Hulu. Meanwhile, So NoTORIous is (sadly) only available in DVD form on Amazon.
