Bratt will play Queen Latifah's former lover
Benjamin Bratt has been cast in Lee Daniels' untitled Fox pilot.
The Miss Congeniality actor will co-star opposite Queen Latifah in the project about a girl group trying to make it big. Bratt will play Jahil, a talent manager with "a hidden life and a drive for redemption" who thinks this new girl group will revive his career. Latifah will play Carlotta, a former client (and former lover) of Jahil's who now owns an Atlanta beauty salon and acts as a surrogate mother to the girls.
Queen Latifah to star in Lee Daniels' new series
Bratt is best known for starring in Law & Order in the '90s, and can be seen in the upcoming Ride Along 2.
Daniels will direct and executive-produce the pilot, along with Dear White People's Effie Brown. The untitled pilot, which was previously known as Star, will be Daniels' first follow-up to Empireunder his development deal with Fox.
