Shadix was best known for playing snooty interior designer Otho in the 1988 Tim Burton film. He also lent his voice to a role in Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The actor's personal manager Juliet Green did not know the cause of death, but his sister, Susan Gagne, told The Birmingham News that he had fallen out of his wheelchair and hit his head.
