Barry Embraces Inner Darkness in Season 2 Trailer

That new leaf is clearly not turned

Barry is back, and it looks like he'll again attempt to channel all those murderous tendencies into a healthier and more creative outlet... for a little while, at least.

HBO revealed the trailer for the show's second season, starting with the eponymous hit man-turned-actor (Bill Hader) attempting to commit at least one of his craziest kill stories to script. Most likely, his story will be billed as fiction since he's so hellbent on not being arrested and all, but there is a lot of truth in his words and subsequent stage delivery.

"This is the story of the first time I ever felt a sense of purpose," he says. "This is the story of the first time I ever took a life."

While Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) tells him, "There is inherent darkness in you," Barry seems determined to prove otherwise, insisting, "What I do is not who I am."

Whether he's able to fully channel those remnants of rage into his new craft and make good on his promise to turn over a new leaf remains to be seen.

Barry returns to HBO this spring.
