Straight outta.... the White House.
The hottest new DJ this summer is none other than President Barack Obama. On Friday, Spotify announced that the White House was launching a channel on the streaming service. The POTUS himself dropped two lists of tracks: "The President's Summer Playlist: Day" and "The President's Summer Playlist: Night."
In between tweets about reopening the embassy in Cuba and commending the Voting Rights Act, Obama announced his new gig as Spotify curator.
"Due to popular request, here are my vacation playlists," he tweeted.
As expected, "Day" includes songs from The Temptations, Bob Marley, Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Aretha Franklin, but also Florence + the Machine and Justin Timberlake ("Pusher Love Girl," anyone?). "Night" features some slower jams from John Coltrane, Beyonce, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and the "Ho Hey" guys themselves, The Lumineers. Not a bad job, POTUS.
All of this brings up a lot of important questions. When will Obama post his workout playlist? Will we get a special list of songs he listens to while working late nights in the Oval Office? And most importantly: What should his DJ name be?
Finally, since we couldn't resist making this:
We apologize for nothing.
