The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story wants to take you backwards through Andrew Cunanan's (Darren Criss) evolution as a serial killer.
While the concept is interesting from a storytelling perspective, it can get kind of confusing for viewers trying to keep up as the series flashes backwards and forwards between the life of Gianni Versace (Edgar Ramirez) in the days, months and years leading up to his murder and Andrew courting his previous victims.
To help keep things straight, TV Guide has compiled the Assassination of Gianni Versace timeline, which will be updated each week with the new revelations and their dates to help you keep track of how everything happened in order.
October 1990 - Andrew Cunanan and Gianni Versace first meet at a club in San Francisco. Later that month, Andrew attends Cappricio, the opera Versace designed costumes for.
May 1994 - Gianni Versace is diagnosed with HIV.
May 1997 - Andrew Cunanan heads to Miami in a stolen pick-up truck from New Jersey. He is already a suspect in the murder of real-estate developer Lee Miglin. He checks into a motel where he befriends another tenant, Ronnie (Max Greenfield), and begins stalking the Versace compound. Gianni has started his recovery from his HIV diagnosis.
July 7, 1997 - Andrew Cunanan pawns a gold coin for $190 in Miami. The paperwork flagging the FBI of the exchange was filed the same day. Later that night, Andrew and Gianni party at the same nightclub across the street from the Miami Police Department, but they do not see each other.
July 15, 1997 - Andrew Cunanan shoots Gianni Versace on the steps of his Miami Beach, Fla. villa. The designer was officially pronounced dead when he was taken to the hospital.
