John Barrowman has been promoted to series regular for Arrow's upcoming third season, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
The Doctor Whoand Torchwoodalum joined the super series during the first season as villain Malcolm Merlyn. During the Season 2 finale, Malcolm reunited with his daughter Thea (Willa Holland), with whom he left town after she decided she could no longer trust her brother Oliver (Stephen Amell) and her old boyfriend Roy (Colton Haynes).

Amell first announced the news on Twitter Thursday morning. "Arrow has a new series regular," he wrote alongside a photo of the duo at The CW's upfront presentation in New York. "What could go wrong?!?!"
